The QA/QC Specialist ensures that all furniture manufacturing processes and export activities meet SUNPANs quality standards and comply with international regulations, particularly for shipments to the United States and Canada. This role manages quality control procedures, oversees the COM (Customers Own Material) Program on the manufacturing side, and ensures proper documentation and compliance with international standards throughout the production and export process.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS & OBJECTIVES

• Act as the primary liaison between SUNPANs head office, designers, and factories in Vietnam, ensuring seamless communication and coordination throughout the product development and production processes.
• Handle all aspects of troubleshooting and problem resolution related to product development, production, and quality within factories in Vietnam.
• Coordinate factory communications for sample development, manage timelines for raw material approvals, and ensure program milestones (costing, sampling, quality control, material approvals) are met on schedule.
• Interpret CAD drawings and follow through on the execution of concepts from initial phases to production.
• Create, manage, and maintain calendars and timelines for samples, production runs, and overall project execution.
• Oversee the costing and quoting process, ensuring accuracy and validity of supplier and manufacturer costs.
• Research, identify, and develop manufacturers capabilities with a focus on quality, brand alignment, drop ship capabilities, and long-term growth potential.
• Ensure new products meet company-defined objectives, industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Oversee the production and maintenance of specifications, ensuring effective communication across all stakeholders.
• Identify development or quality concerns, clearly communicate revisions, and create feedback loops for corrective actions to improve overall product quality.
• Develop, implement, and manage processes and documentation to enhance product development efficiency and effectiveness.
• Maintain professional conduct when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, managers, and other stakeholders.
• Review Quality Control (QC) inspection reports in the Qarma application to ensure products meet quality and performance standards before shipping.
• Coordinate first production inspections with the warehouse, including staging and assembly of parts for review and inspection.
• Conduct incoming inspections of first production parts, report findings in the Qarma application, and promptly address quality or compliance concerns.
• Investigate initial claims by inspecting stock parts to assess issues and coordinate the rework process for quarantined products.
• Work closely with overseas vendors and QC agents to resolve quality-related concerns and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
• Review furniture structural testing and compliance reports as required, ensuring adherence to North American regulations and certifications.
• Identify areas for quality control improvement, recommending new processes and methods to enhance overall quality standards.
• Perform quality audits from sample development through production to ensure conformance post-corrective action.
• Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned by the QA Manager, Director of Product Development, or Executive Management.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• English and Mandarin required; Cantonese preferred
• 2-4 years of QC experience in the furniture industry.
• Experience in testing standards and compliance.
• Post secondary education in relevant field.
• Demonstrates exemplary teamwork and maintains the respect of others.
• Strong Project Management Skills.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ensure compliance to company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Qarma an asset.
