Job Description Job Purpose This role is responsible for supporting Wassermans China presence. Day to day responsibilities will be split across Talent and Marketing, including supporting the day-to-day needs of marketing services team members, agents, and clients to accomplish client related projects; support client relationships, internal-team relationships, and account operations. Participates in new business development efforts such as recruitment and / or marketing material development. This position also prepares reports, presentations, and meeting agendas along with providing high-level executive administrative support including organizing, scheduling, and coordinating executive visits. Despite Wasserman being a global sports marketing agency, this person will need a startup mentality. Ideally, this person will be a passionate, bilingual (speaking and writing), sports marketer and with a service first mentality. This person will also need to be comfortable working across the two halves of the Wasserman business requiring top notch communication and coordination skills as this person will be supported out of Wassermans two main servicing hubs - London and Los Angeles. Candidate should also have experience working in Chinas sports marketing industry with deep understanding of both Western and Chinas business tradition and culture, being able to navigate in both working environments. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Local Office Management:
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Operations - File keeping and other office management
    • Business Development - Maintain local relationships, network and support local materials development (Sales and marketing materials) and translation services
Market Intelligence and Education:
  • Coordinate and prioritize executive schedules; arrange industry meetings, special events, and conferences, act as a liaison between employees, clients, and executives.
  • Takes initiative to identify in-market opportunities and communicates back to leadership teams as appropriate.
  • Must have a strong understanding of China sports industry for media, social media, properties, leagues, brands and being able to conduct market research along with Wassermans USA and European teams.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with key stakeholders, including the Wassermans local business partners (i.e. agencies, professional clubs) to ensure Wasserman is delivering plans and expectations.
Client Management:
  • Provide support for Wasserman clients (talent and brand) with their local market needs.
  • Supports day-to-day schedules of clients, client service team, and agents, which includes appointments, travel logistics, interviews, family affairs, and marketing commitments.
  • Supports client “off court” relationships and communicates with their agents, keeping them informed on their clients needs.
  • Prepares invoices, expense reports, presentation decks, memos, letters, financial statements and other documents, using Word, Excel spreadsheets, or presentation software.
  • Maintains department databases and generates reports as required.
Talent may require additional support whilst in market including but not limited to full or temporary relocation support given market nuances.
  • Work with team members to deliver the Wasserman standard of client servicing, positive relationship development, and robust project management.
  • Experience in sporting events and marketing activations. Being able to support the execution Wassermans local marketing initiatives alongside Wassermans local partners often in partnership with remote teams in the USA and UK.
Communications and Media:
  • Great understanding of Chinas media, PR and social media landscape and will be working with Wassermans social media and PR teams in the UK and USA to localize Wassermans corporate and client media footprint in China.
Executive Visits & Hospitality:
  • Must lead on-the-ground support for Wasserman executive visits including hotels, transportation, translation services and troubleshooting, where needed.
  • Must possess ability to work with all levels of the company with respect and high level of customer service
THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED
  • 3-5+ years experience within a similar sport/ talent representation agency
  • Bilingual in both Mandarin and English
  • Detail focused with strong communication skills: persuasive, strategic, proactive, diplomatic.
  • Commitment to excellence — working nonstandard hours when necessary, anticipating issues and communicating with diplomacy, identifying emerging platforms and trends to drive innovation.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time across multiple accounts.
  • Comfort running small/medium projects with minimal oversight.
  • Mid to senior level client-facing experience
