Job Title - System Engineer (BAS), AEC Controls

APAC Engineering Center - Controls is seeking a Systems Engineer who is passionate about implementing new Building Automation System which meet customer expectation and help business growth by leveraging solution capability and technology innovation. As part of the R&D team, he/she will work closely with engineering team, Product Manager, Program Manager, Customers etc to define/develop high quality system concept, drive that into reality and support across product lifecycle.

Position Description

With strong building automation (HVAC) domain expertise and technology capability, this role will turn customer needs and business requirements into solid system concept and then final deliverable products. He/she develops and oversees all aspects of complex system to solve building automation problem, from the initial creation of the idea to production and management through the end solution, this includes all considerations to meet cost, timing and quality requirements.

System Engineer partners with product managers to balance business, technology and design priorities to deliver brand-defining product and service experiences. He/she will act as the linchpin between market requirements, customer needs, and the technical capabilities of our development team.

His / Her responsibilities include:

• Translate complex business requirements into technical solutions, influencing solution direction, and maintaining system integrity, scalability, quality, security, and reusability;
• Engage business sponsors to understand the business value for product enhancements, contributing to the understanding and definition of high-level requirements through research, analysis, spikes, or exploration activities;
• Understand, analyze, and challenge customer and market requirements and business value, identifying matches to the existing product functionality or product gaps.
• Apply expertise in hardware design, platform development and commercialization experience to new building automation system design, simplify system complexity, evaluate technologies, recommend design options and tradeoffs, and drive for effective solutions

Essential Job Functions:

• Solution Strategy and Development: Support development of technology strategy and product offerings for the business
• Requirement Management and Analysis: Lead requirement analysis activities, including functional and non-functional requirements, develop Product Requirement Specification;
• System Concept Development: Lead BAS system concept design with system thinking, which integrate software, controller, network, IO devices, and field equipments. Conduct system modeling through simulation and optimization.
• Technical Concept Review: Lead review for critical technical design and participate key technology evaluation
• Alignment and Coordination: Proactively builds relationships and collaborates with cross-functional partners to ensure system concept meet stakeholder needs

Education, Experience & Skills

• Master or above degree in Engineering (Automation, EE, Computer Sciences etc)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in new product development in the building automation industry or related industry.
• Minimum 5 years successful experience in delivery of complex programs, including system software development
• Demonstrated technical acumen and an ability to work with the technology organization to align product and technology roadmaps
• Proven Record of System level products design, development, Experiences in BAS \ BMS \ IBMS, DCS \ PLC etc
• Experience in setting architectural direction and successful track record of delivering strategic commercial software solutions, Experience in Modeling language, like UML
• proficiency in various technical skills including frontend, backend
• Protocol / Network knowledge: BACnet, Modbus, Lon Works, OPC, WiFi, ZigBee, Z-wave etc
• Database knowledge: commercial (SQL Server etc), opensource (SQLite, Redis, PostgreSQL etc)
